The chokehold this man has on me is insane. His writing suits me so much. His description is so visceral and bodily which does sound disgusting but its acc just the raw and genuine emotion. Tbh i did zone for the like first ten percent but from what i remember it was rlly good. Ofc the ending is ambiguous, its Stefan Zweif what did we expect but its also ever so heart wrenching, despite the somewhat open ending. Honestly i dont think the ending was extremelyyyyy ambiguous but its is deffo open to interpretation bc he doesn’t explicitly say that they fell put of loveeee. I mean he kind of does tho? perhaps im just reaching bc im trying to force an ending that i want 🤷‍♀️. But evidently it made me feel conflicted so it has to be a good book.

Back in 2014, I read [b:The Sense of an Ending|10746542|The Sense of an Ending|Julian Barnes|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1311704453l/10746542._SY75_.jpg|15657664] by [a:Julian Barnes|1462|Julian Barnes|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1606567988p2/1462.jpg], in which a character was introduced by reading a book by Zweig, so of course I had to find out more about Zweig, and I have been reading him off and on, since then. Everything I have read by him, I have liked. His writing, even in translation is just beautiful, flowing, and as Aciman said in his Intro, fluent.

What I like about Zweig's writing, is that you have a glimpse into the world that is changing so swiftly right before his eyes.

Most important, this novella was translated by the wonderful Anthea Bell.
