I didn't really expect that this would lend itself to being read cover to cover, but it totally did. I kept it on my bedside table and read a few sections every night before be, even reading many aloud to my husband. Definitely recommended.
funny informative lighthearted reflective medium-paced

Accessible to the non-STEM minded out there (*cough*me*cough*) while still having that extra flare for those who already know the concepts involved, this is just a perfect book. It's a perfect gift for others, and a great one to have yourself to lend out to friends.

If you ever wanted to know scientific-based approximations to incredibly absurd questions, well this is the book for you! Munroe writes fun little blurbs about random hypothetical questions and provides witty yet scientifically backed responses. It feels like you learn something yet it's not really things you would think to learn about. For example, "Q: What would happen if you were to gather a mole (unit of measurement) of moles (the small furry critter) in one place?". Like why would I need to know that?? But also, I don't know what would happen?

And there's comics!

Definitely a book to read in small doses but still enjoyable regardless.

A delightfully nerdy book!

Mostly interesting and i feel a little smarter about totally useless information. :D

This guy really puts in the time to thoroughly answer the important questions. Could you touch a bullet with the density of a neutron star? What would happen if you slowly drained Earth's oceans? And so much more - answered with research, math, diagrams and simulations. What a wild trip.
I learned so much from these bizarre and hilarious hypothetical science scenarios. Every engineer should read this book to learn how to think about complex problems. Randall Munroe thinks of every detail and he has a sharp wit too.

This was delightful. Bite-sized chunks of humorous, but accurate, scientific answers to ridiculous questions, peppered with Munroe's trademark xkcd-style illustrations. Easy to pick up whenever you have a few moments and read one Q&A.

Fun writing and premise but not for me. Questions were a little too hypothetical.

Incredibly interesting and entertaining. Regardless of the accuracy of the topics, the arguments made are fascinating and inherently thought provoking.

Humour also plays a large role in making this book one of the most enjoyable I've read.
