I really struggled through the first 200 pages because it’s SO MUCH military and conflict and countries and made up names for things BUT THEN AT LAST we get the marriage of convenience and everything just ✨falls into place✨ and I couldn’t stop
This book caused me so much fucking pain. They are truly enemies and neither one can STAND the fact that they like each other at any point AND IT IS SO PAINFUL AND SO SAD! The betrayal! The treachery! The deceit! I AM BROKEN AND I AM SO SAD AND IF THEA DOESNT WRITE THAT NEXT BOOK BY TOMORROW AND DELIVER IT TO MY DOOR I DONT KNOW WHAT I WILL DO
Graphic: Death, War, and Violence
Minor: Death of parent

It was fine. The book is medium pace but feels slow paced (so it drags) and the enemies to lovers aspect could have been stronger in that it was mostly unconvincing. The e2l dynamic should have just been focused on the fact that they are on opposite sides of the war because the personal aspect of their enemy dynamic was lacking and unconvincing Just not fleshed out enough. I would go into more detail but I'm too tired lol (not bc of the book I just need to go to sleep). Anyway it wasn't engaging enough for me be interested in reading the 2nd book but I do think there's an audience for it.luluht's review against another edition

Throughout the book, I found myself giggling and smirking. I thought the world building was well done and I’m excited to read the rest of the series.

I could not get through the dialogue, felt no real chemistry between the MCs. I knew going in that this was a Reylo fic and while I don’t care too much for Reylo, I do love Rey. Unfortunately the FMC in this is absolutely insufferable and very un-Rey-like.
But I did go and start reading the fic that it’s based on and I probably would recommend reading the original fic over this. Some of the dialogue and phrasing is even picked straight out of the fic.
