Very repetitive, same concept is explained again and again, only in a slight different form. Not enough real world examples and analysis why they are good or bad. Sometimes didn't get the point why author had chosen some topics to be included in the book, didn't get where he wanted to me lead to.
The most valuable takeaway for me is chapter 1.3, the principle of design. Then these principles are then being repeated throughout the whole book with similar explanation. Would be better if each of the principle has its own dedicated chapter, to be explained and discussed further and deeper, and includes more analysis of everyday objects that succeeded or failed to apply these principles.

This book was originally published as The Psychology, rather than Design, of Everyday Things. It's pretty heavy on the psychology side, and I was hoping for more on the design side.
Where the author does talk about design principles, it does a good job of abstracting the details into principles, and it does a good job of stripping away the things that don't matter. It's just not really the book I thought and hoped it would be.

Well, this is supposed to be a good book.
At 20%, it did teach me a lot that I didn't know about.
Unfortunately, this book is not aligning with what I want to learn and experience.
DNFing until a time comes when a book on this theme would be relevant to me.

The content is great, and this is a must read for designers. The writing was overall very good, but in some places repetitive or a little choppy.

There are very important user experience and design concepts here... as they pertain to everyday things. He isn't even talking about software apps and websites...this was published in 1988 so those weren't even really on the forefront of the mind when it came to design back then...
