5.0

My five star rating of this manga comes rooted in nostalgia and an understanding of all that is to come in the series as well as total re-enjoyment of this series.

Demon Slayer took me for a whirlwind last year. I actually watched the anime first and I was blown away by the animation and deeply invested in the story of this brother trying to save his sister and doing anything possible. I couldn’t wait for the anime (I still waiting on the train movie to get subbed like please come on) so I went to the manga to see where the tail gone and boi lemme tell you it went. IT WENT!!

Tanjiro is such a simple boy with a simple goal and love and kindness in his heart. His hesitation towards the demons is heartfelt but he always pushes through despite because it be a kill or be killed world and he’s out here fighting for Nezuko. Their sibling dynamic, the mutual saving of lives, is something that touches me deeply.

All these characters touch me deeply, even some demons later on because I got a soft heart. Lemme not even start on Sabito and Makomo cause when Urokodaki say how you know them names I was shook, even tho I suspected it a little.

Read this manga! This volume serves as a great introduction to the series with the serious tone it sets from the jump but still being able to throw in moments that can make you laugh. These characters will grow (both themselves and in your hearts) in a way you een ga never expect.
