I usually love Allen Eskens's work and although I didn't love the narrator here, he was fully human, flawed, and believable. The story was well-written, mysterious, and made me cry (my depression had set in anyway). I didn't figure it out until the narrator put it together at the very end. I loved that there was a beloved dog in the story as well.
