Another amazing book by Avery Keelan. I have been waiting for this book since reading offside, and I can confidently say that it did not disappoint. I absolutely loved the relationship between Tyler and Seraphina. The banter between them and the eventual relationship was everything. The only negative thing I have to say about this book is that compared to Offside, I feel like we didn't get that connection between main character and reader. I would have liked the book to be a bit longer to help form that connection with the characters, I did feel that their relationship timeline was a bit rushed.

Did not enjoy writing style / felt like talking to someone who is humble bragging the whole time about how much money they have

Tyler is a machine. I feel sorry for the pressure that he puts himself under and the stress that he must feel. Heck, even I felt it. The mental headspace he had to put himself in to prepare for everything was exhausting. I think it is admirable the level of work ethic he has. Not only is he a dedicated hockey player that puts in the work on the ice, gym, in his nutrition and mental headspace but he is also an applied student that dedicates his time to maintain his academics plus have a good relationship with his family. Tyler is a bit of an introvert; dark and mysterious at times, but I think that plays into his goalie training. I'm glad he finally learned to let loose and enjoy other aspects of life. Now, from the way I picture him in my head, Tyler is HOT! The tattoos are sexy and the piercing...I have questions.

Seraphina - I don't know how I feel about her. I know that we women typically take on the mental load of the family more than men do. I feel bad that she gave up her life at Arizona University to be closer to her mother during her illness, especially since Chase was already close by, but I understand he has a demanding hockey schedule and the care of their mother is divided between them and their stepfather. Still, it's not ideal that she had to uplift her life to move back. Additionally, I understand the stress of all the changes that Sera was going through to have additional medical stress added on top. However, there are some behavior patterns that Avery detailed about Sera that I didn't understand. Maybe it was something that is linked to her ADHD, something that I don't have any experience with, but it meant I wasn't connecting with Sera as much as I had with Bailey. Sera was a bit of a pushover at first. She as described as a social butterfly but I think she was just someone that didn’t know how to put her foot down and allowed herself to be manipulated but her “friends”. Once she learned to stand up for herself and realized that she had adult/heavy things happening to or around her, she found it easier to walk away from those negative influences in her life.

I love the relationship between Tyler and Sera. It was a bit fast pace and I wish the book was a bit longer so we could see the relationship develop past the sneaking around, but overall it was nice to see how it wasn't just a bunch of random hook-ups and they took the time to get to know each other and fall in love via texts. The support Tyler demonstrates to Sera when she needs it, and how he focuses on her as a person is swoon-worthy.

I can't wait until we get the next book. I would also enjoy a prequel to the series with Dallas and Shiv's story. Maybe a short novella to give us some insight. I know this was Ty and Sera's book but we barely got any insight into Chase and Bailey's story here.

UPDATE:
I’ve now read this book twice. Actually, the second time was on Audible, so I want to elaborate on my initial review. I have added one more star with this second round of the book because it has grown on me and I love Tyler just a bit more.
This comment will be specific to the audiobook…in anticipation of the upcoming third installment being released in a few weeks, I wanted to go back and refresh my memory on the first books of the series. The audio performance is ok. It's not my favorite, but I have heard worse. I did not enjoy the editing process. I could tell where some of the recording was cut, and redo sections were put into the recording because the tone in the voice had a sudden change or it sounded choppy and inserted. It's a shame because the original audio was ok, but the edits needed to be fixed, so you can't detect where they are. The volume would change, and the tone in the reading had a slight modification...it feels like a cut and paste of the soundtrack where it was just an afterthought.
I do like that the audio version of this book includes the bonus epilogue that was/is available on Bookfunnel / through Avery's website. I don't think the audio version of [b:Offside|208293418|Offside (Rules of the Game, #1)|Avery Keelan|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1707761690l/208293418._SY75_.jpg|98396083] had the bonus epilogue. Either way, make sure you follow up with the bonus content. It's a good insight into Chase/Bailey's children playing with Tyler/Sera's children. The cousins, especially the ones that play hockey, have a healthy hockey competition between them and we will see them in the upcoming [b:Playmaker|92155208|Playmaker (Top Shelf #1)|Avery Keelan|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1696077924l/92155208._SY75_.jpg|93914427].

Absolutely loved this book a really cute hockey romance book

I really enjoyed Tink and Hades, let’s be honest broody tatted athlete is perfection to me. The resolution flipped fairly quick for this couple, but I really appreciated no third act breakup. Also the texting banter was spot on and adorable to me.
