This is a perfect, feel good romantic comedy. A nice light hearted read. I felt the ending was slightly rushed but enjoyed almost everything else about this book.
These people are despicable Ive never read about more unlikable mean nasty humans
I’m all
Over the place with this one - funny moments, yes, but lots of unlikeable characters….the ending was rather sudden and there wasn’t enough depth with the romance. I did, however, stay up wayyyyy too late to finish reading this, so that says something as well :)
However, WMS - probably skip this one :)

3.5 actually.. should’ve been longer bc i loved the characters but rushed ending !!!!!!! grrr
This was okay book. The first half of the book drive me a little batty but the ending and the snort worthy remarks made it a bearable read.
Mia is the black sheep of the family and can't do anything right. This point is drilled into you over, and over, and over again. It's ridiculous the amount of crap that her family puts her through, and though she does make a lot of mistakes, it's absolutely ridiculous the way that she's treated. For this reason alone, it was hard to read the book at certain point. At several points I felt like 'enough already, I get the point!'.
Now with that said, the book did eventually get better but by that point I was a little over it. Overall the thing that saved this book was some of the snort worthy scenes and come backs that Mia creates. The one great part about this book was the amount of chuckling that I was able to do in between the annoying parts if the story.
*I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion*

I didn't really like this - I didn't warm to any of the characters really - and didn't really care whether it worked out right for Mia in the end. I didn't really like the way that Mia was acting - but although I didn't really like her family's behaviour, I could kind of understand where they were coming from.
I know other people on here have really enjoyed it - so I'll just chalk it up as a heroine who was Not My Thing - a shame though, because I liked the blurb and the cover is really cute.

Mia, a successful romance film writer, has left her family behind to pursue her new flourishing career and escape her former life. Living alone, Mia enjoys a somewhat young bachelor style life with no commitments or strings attached. This lifestyle is demanding and at times harsh but Mia loves it. After being called by his younger sister, her former aggressor, and asked to be head bridesmaid at her wedding it seems like things are going from bad to worse. Mia has no intension of settling down at the ripe age of 29 and to be honest, she doesn't really believe in love, but her family just can't understand her feelings. Being a bridesmaid is about to completely change Mia, but will the wedding survive with Mia on board? You're just going to have to read to find out!
This book was absolutely hilarious and I haven't laughed at a book so much in so long. It was really refreshing and entertaining to read! Some of the incidents that Mia ends up involved with are brilliantly funny and embarrassing. Macintosh has made each and every character witty, interesting and realistic and they all have substance and are important parts of the plot. I'm bursting to talk about some of the things which happen to Mia but I'm keeping my mouth zipped shut, no spoilers!
I'm someone who doesn't normally tend to read a lot of romance books, though they can be entertaining I'm normally much more into science-fiction and mystery. This just proved me wrong, if romance books can be as fun to read as this was I'll certainly be reading more in the near future. I really want to read more books by Portia Macintosh as well - deservedly five stars.

Review hidden, not for spoilers (I didn't finish it) but because it isn't particularly kind, but I wanted to give an honest opinion. Also, it pains me to write this stuff because Portia is SUCH a great writer, and such a lovely author, but I have to be honest.
I just couldn't get on with the book. I liked Mia's voice, she's a great narrator, but she's wildly childish for a 29-year-old (proclaiming she was the "starter" child compared to her sister Belle, which makes her sound bitter). The whole entire premise to me didn't make sense - if Mia Valentina is this kick-ass heroine who couldn't care less what anyone things of her... Why is she rocking up in Cornwall for her sister's wedding? She just wouldn't have gone, if she was as blase as she says.
And the whole "my family hate me" plot line drove me round the bend. Because we don't know WHY her mum, her sister, her Aunt & her Grandma hate her, except she used to be fat and her sister Belle is the one they all adore. *SHRUGS* What are you going to do with logic like that, eh? No parent or relative would act the way they act to Mia; maybe I could understand if it was just her Aunt, but her mum and grandma and sister, too? Over the top. And the creepy Uncle? Disgusting.
Her sister's persistence in screaming "YOU'VE RUINED MY WEDDING" was also mildly confusing. If you think your sister's a good for nothing scoundrel, desperate to ruin your big day.. WHY WOULD YOU INVITE HER? You wouldn't. But Belle did, and then spends all the novel I read up to whinging and crying that Mia is ruining everything. And then the cherry on the cake is Mia gets caught giving her sister's fiance a hand job. That's when I gave up, because there's farcical (think Bridesmaids the movie) and then there's Bad Bridesmaid which is just... too much. It's like Bridesmaids the movie on steroids and it doesn't make it better.
I wish I had liked it more, or been able to get over how self-absorbed Mia is, because there's a part of me that sees where she was coming from, but there was too much artificial hate swilling around the place, and too many ridiculous incidents that just HAD to be her fault, and I sadly just couldn't get on with the novel.
