It’s usually not my kind of books, but I wanted to read a lighthearted novel. 99 Days isn’t without flaws. Yes, the story is a bit far-fetched, but I found myself captivated by Molly’s messed-up life. A guilty pleasure for the summer.

I have mixed feelings about this book. It's addictive to read, that's for sure. It was like watching a soap where everything goes wrong.
Molly has just come back from boarding school after a year away, where she fled from the persistent hate and slut-shaming. She had 'cheated' with her then boyfriend with his BROTHER. She comes back and gets her house egged, her car keyed, condoms in her locker, and nasty post-its. She only has 99 days to go. 99 days till she's off to college.
The whole message of this novel is double standards, at least how I perceived it. Molly is branded a 'slut' and 'dirty whore', yet the boys get off scot-free because low and behold, they can do no wrong. But you know what they say, it takes two to tango. Yet Gabe is one of the only (along with the awesomeness that is Imogen) that is aware that this double standard exists - one of my favourite quotes from 99 Days is from Gabe and goes something like 'If you're a slut, I'm a slut too', because they both did the deed.
Despite the fact that Gabe has his moments, I found any scene with him was difficult to get through. Actually, any scene with Patrick I found it hard to get through too. Basically, the love triangle did not work for me. I think that is why 99 Days is getting three stars from me; because I can't do love triangles, and I certainly can't do cheating.
Overall, I can see how this is going to be a massive hit, but for me, it was just OK and was bogged down with a not so likeable love triangle.

This book frustrates THE HELL out of me, but it’s so good! I could feel my heart racing the whole time, the author makes you feel nervous on her behalf and i love that feeling. I love when books end with the girl not ending up with anyone and getting a new sense of independence. Can’t wait for the second one.
This definitely kept me wanting to read more, but it wasn't particularly enjoyable as a read - there's a lot that doesn't feel believeable, but maybe I'm just too sensitive for this subject matter.

This book reminded me of the TV show Friends, of Ross and Rachel's relationship, only a lot more twisted. It was really interesting to read and I never wanted to put it down! I love Katie Cotugno's writing, she does a great job presenting her characters in a realistic fashion.
Honestly, reading this book made me really, really angry with Molly Barlow, the main character. She left Star Lake her senior year of high school. This is how it goes:
~ Molly and Patrick were together their whole lives.
~ They started getting in arguments and Patrick broke up with Molly.
~ Molly and Gabe slept together.
~ Molly went to Patrick, and they talked and got back together (Molly didn't tell him about sleeping with Gabe).
~ A year goes by, and Molly's mother releases a book about her daughters romance life, which ruins Molly's relationships with the Donnelly's all together.
Overall, Molly completely messed up, but now she's back and she starts seeing Gabe right off the bat, but is still trying to get Patrick back into her life.
I didn't like Molly, but I liked the story. It was a fast read and I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a book about love, lust, and betrayal.

Spoiler
Even though she had Gabe, she still wanted Patrick, and Patrick still wanted her but at the same time didn't because of what she put him through before. Then, Molly befriends Patrick's new girlfiend, Tess, and still decides to cheat on Gabe with Patrick behind her back. And in the end, she makes herself the victim. It made me so angry to read it, because how dumb can a person be, to put herself in a situation like that AGAIN? However, I really like the Cotugno wrote the story, she just has a way with words that I didn't want to put the book down .I didn't like Molly, but I liked the story. It was a fast read and I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a book about love, lust, and betrayal.
