This graphic novel is a retelling of an ancient Breton folktale, which reminded me of Arthurian legends. It tells the story of two daughters of a king and a sorceress, whose lives diverge when the sorceress dies. This divergence causes a rift between the two siblings until finally, the consequences of their various choices result in catastrophe which the characters must respond to. This is a graphic novel probably best for high school since use of sex as manipulation is portrayed on the page, and the themes are really interesting, but take some more mature thinking to really fully engage with. I was a little thrown off by the art style at first (think Coraline-doll styled faces, but slightly more realistic?) but really enjoyed it by the end of the book--and the color choices were perfect for the story. Overall would recommend to mature 8th grade and up, especially to those who are interested in Arthurian legend.
