Wanted to like this book more. Was hoping to get more "submarine" detail. This book is written maybe a step, or half-step, above that level, and is maybe more of a management book than I was hoping for. With the emphasis on procedure, training, and the resources of a large bureaucracy, small businesses may have a hard time implementing the prescriptions outlined in the book. Well-written and thought-provoking nonetheless.

This was required reading for work, but I got a lot out of it. I listened to the audio book, read by the author. He reads without emotion and little inflection.
The first hour was primarily backstory and not that interesting. After the story got to where he took over the ship, it was engaging and I looked forward to hearing what he tried and the results. I have the workbook as well, and now intend to go through it and hopefully drive home points where I can change and make a difference to my work team.
