Black Rabbit Hall

3.7 AVERAGE

This novel portrays the way a family is held together by one member and shreds apart when that person is no longer there. Children set adrift by a family tragedy and a father who cannot find his way through. This novel tells the stories of two women in two different time periods. One forced to grow up too soon. One is searching for something that she doesn't know she's missing.
Secrets never go away, they just fester. This book is well written and the characters well defined. It is heartbreaking how much family can hurt one another.
I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed it. I tend to like those books read by British voices. I find them beautiful and soothing.

3.5 stars. Very reminiscent of [b:Rebecca|17899948|Rebecca|Daphne du Maurier|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1386605169s/17899948.jpg|46663], with the characters stirred around a bit. Some of the prose was pretty over the top but I stuck through it and particularly enjoyed the last half of the book.

I skimmed rather than read this book because I found it pretty predictable.

This is a great contemporary Gothic novel. If you like Rebecca you should totally read this!!!!
