I love books that involve multiple storylines. This story centered around an old, historic home was a wonderfully twisting tale that had me completely riveted from the very beginning.

Plot or Character Driven: Plot

A good vacation read--a bit of a gothic tale centered around an old house in Cornwall.

I enjoyed this book but the plot dragged on too long for me and I lost excitement. It was a bit predictable.

This is a great debut novel from Eve Chase. Although I guessed the ending fairly early on, the book was still thoroughly enjoyable. The characters were believable with distinct personalities. A worthwhile read.

2.5 stars - I think this one was a case of me not being in the right headspace for this story. The writing was good, but was told in two alternating perspectives... and I only cared for the historical perspective and seemed to trudge through the chapters from the present day character’s perspective.

An atmospheric and engaging story which is reminiscent of the best of [a:Kate Morton|615274|Kate Morton|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1444262471p2/615274.jpg] and [a:Rachel Hore|767069|Rachel Hore|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1456678456p2/767069.jpg]. Two time periods weave together to create a twisting turning tale of loss, love, madness and redemption set in a mysterious and majestic house on the beautiful Cornish coast. For a debut novel this was well written, tightly plotted and I very much look forward to seeing what flows from Eve Chase's pen next.

Long, drawn out story that bounced between late-1960s and current times. I thought about giving up several times but pushed my way through. The ending was not unexpected.

I loved just about every thing about this book!! I am a little tired of stories told in two time periods, and some things were a little predictable, but otherwise I loved it. Couldn’t put it down.

Well-crafted, engaging writing that keeps the story flowing and a pleasure to read. Enjoyed the book but, having read two other novels by the same author, could see the “twist” coming from miles away. If you’re in it purely for the big reveal and you’ve been down the road of these books before, this is not the story for you.
