Interesting analysis of how algorithms have influenced different aspects of culture and how we can resist their influences. Made me think a lot about how to better curate what I consume.

I was really interested in this topic but found the book dense and dull. I wound up skimming (at best) like 85% of it.

DID NOT FINISH

A polemic on vibes from the vibe-less. Only one chapter in the author talks about Air BNB landlords as workers.

DNF at 70 %, one of those books where all the interesting stuff is included in the introduction and you wonder, what more is there to be said in the remaining 250 or so pages? And the answer is, nothing much. Thinly veiled autobiographical musings on the current state of social media any reasonably affluent person with an ounce of introspection could have written.

I enjoyed the author's examination of how algorithms affect his mind, habits, and taste. I'm already open to the idea of more intentional, person-led consumption of art and curation,  so I appreciated hearing some of the ways Chayka prioritized this in his own life. I think commentary on the algorithms that we encounter every day in almost every way, is quite necessary.
