Worth a gander here: "The Story of Caliph Stork," "Heart of Ice," "The Dirty Shepherdess," "Puddocky,""Allerleirauh: or, the Many-Furred Creature," "Spindle, Shuttle, Needle,""The Three Dogs."
I think it was the one I liked the least so far. In the previous ones I loved to see some of my favorite fairy tales but in this one it was mostly ones I didn't know and it's very repetitive.
I had to read a selection of fairytales from this book for class! I will definitely be checking out the rest of these tales. Below is a list of the fairytales I've read with my ratings of each.
Rosanella: 4.25/5 stars
Prince Narcissus and the Princess Potentilla: 4/5 stars
Prince Featherhead and the Princess Celandine: 4/5 stars
The Enchanted Snake: 4/5 stars
Prince Vivien and the Princess Placida: 3/5 stars

This is such a fun short story book, comprised of fairy tales from around the world. It's interesting to see parallel tales from different countries, different but similar, along with a lot of rare gems I've never heard of before. Some of my favorites included "Princes Fickle and Fair Helena" (my favorite in the book) and "The War of The Wolf and The Fox." But it's hard to choose a few!
There is nothing like a fairy tale and Lang’s Green Fairy Book brings together some wonderful stories.
There is the slightly whimsical heroes, the murderous villains, the romantic leads, the fierce protector, the wizened mentor and a stack of other characters. What counts is that good always triumphs no matter how many times the hero is lied, tricked, killed, maimed they will always be fully restored and find true love.
If only life was so

Just really enjoy reading all of these fairy tales :)
I loved this book as a child. I used to particularly love the picture of the princess Potentilla and gaze at it for hours. I liked that story and the bluebird story (though both were sometimes too awful to read -frightening and sad in parts)
Whether I would read the stories more critically now or not, I know that aspects of the green fairy book worldview formed me as a thinker and writer and dreamer and reader and I know Lang's collections have been formative for many other writers, most of them greater than me.
Why was this my favourite colour of the whole collection? Because of my child-crush on Potentilla of course!

After we finished reading The Red Fairy Book, we went straight into The Green Fairy Book. There are familiar stories here, along with some I had never heard before. In the realm of classic children's literature, these books (red, green, blue) should be read.
I normally love fairy tales, but this book had waay too much violence as a means to an end. In one story, two people were perfectly kind to someone and got beaten, whereas another person who beat that same person got to marry a princess and live happily ever after.
