I really enjoyed reading this book it had just enough chemistry between the two main characters to keep you engrossed in the book. Grace is a rising author, Ryan is a talented website designer at the company that Grace was referred to. She is instantly attracted to Ryan and he feels likewise but neither knows how to approach the subject without causing the other to tuck tail and run. This was a sweet romance between a 20-something guy and a 30 something girl.

A Kiss in the Dark opens with Ryan, a professional website programmer for Sharpe Designs who spends a bit of his free time fighting in the ring. He’s got a history of being a ladies man who lives by his self-proclaimed motto of drink hard, play hard, work hard.

Ryan’s bachelor status might be in for a complete change when he meets Grace Betancourt, the sexy and (very) single author that unfortunately also happens to be his first client. In addition to playing hard and working hard, Ryan has a no ditching responsibilities policy, so he’s torn between his professional and personal interests when it comes to all things involving Grace.

Grace Betancourt is a cozy mystery author that just got signed for a 4-book deal. She enters Ryan’s life when she decides to hire Sharpe Designs to create a professional and interactive website to help her sell more books. Not only does Ryan have the ability to create an amazing website for Grace, he also might be just the inspiration she needed to overcome her recent writer’s block. She’s constantly stressed about making her daily word count, and between her writing and responsibilities in her personal life, Grace doesn’t have the time to get involved in a relationship. Are Grace and Ryan doomed before they even have a chance to get started or will Ryan show Grace what she’s been missing and convince her that a relationship is worth the time and effort?

One of the major themes of the story was that meeting the right person can open your heart and your eyes to love. It’s incredibly important to have a strong support system of people that have your back, through the good stuff and the bad. No one should have to go through the tough stuff alone and having someone to share in the celebration of good things and divide the pain of the bad is part of what makes life enjoyable.

Now, I’ll be honest, most of Lisa’s writing sounds like it’s a bit on the other side of the intimate romance blush meter than I usually read. However, if reading this novella was any indicator of Fox’s writing overall, I have a strong suspicion that the intimate scenes are tastefully written and an addition to the novel, not the main point of the story. A Kiss in the Dark is a fun, flirty novella that had me thoroughly entertained and I will definitely be reading more of Fox’s work soon!
