4.5

In terms of pure nostalgia, I'm giving this a 4.5. If I was "reading" reading it, it'd get probably a 1.5.

The book jacket says "Be the first kid on your block to know the real story of the New Kids on the Block" Well I have to say that this book delivers (or delivered is probably more accurate). In 1989 I was the biggest NKTOB fan there was, which is documented by the People magazine interview I appeared in around that time. Seriously. No, I'm not kidding, I was interviewed at a concert and a line of that interview was published in the article. I was a superstar at my junior high school for about 5 minutes, it was an exciting time. And I owe it all to this book.

Now my 13 year old self would have given this book 5 stars...my 35 year old self, on the other hand, is slightly more discriminating. And although it pleases me to no end to know such nuggets of insider information (such as Donnie Wahlberg's favorite drink is water - or at least it was in 1898), I have to admit that this book is a little light on content and lacks a general plot or a cohesive narrative. Still, 3 stars for being fun.
