I don't think the book had any redeeming qualities. The story wasn't interesting, and neither were the characters or the writing. it was a pot of depressing people all being horrid to each other. and the book within the book added nothing to the story - it just made my eyes glaze over. there wasn't even a good twist. I just didn't have a good time.

3.5 stars. Meh, a quick read. Felt like too many characters and subplots to keep up with. No really likable characters. I didn’t feel much tension, I really didn’t care who did what by the end.

I honestly gave up on this book so many times before I actually forced myself to push through and finish it. I cannot ever leave anything unfinished but holy moly! That first half dragged and dragged and dragged. And really, it was confusing. I normally enjoy a book bouncing around from other points of views but there was so much going on in the beginning and no dots connecting I thought for sure I was going to be on the next episode of Snapped!

Then it starts to piece together and make sense. It got pretty decent, but I was never in love. I didn’t bond deeply enough with any of the characters. Except for possibly sweet Irene but she is more of the outsider looking in the entire time.

Honestly, I think I had higher hopes for this which ultimately resulted in disappointment no matter how it ended. Still a decent read.
