the characters drove me INSANE, think this book might be too young for me. the whining and the complaining were just present everywhere and so blatant. i got about halfway and still did not care about the story. i think it’s an important one especially with how it relates to asian stereotypes but the characters made the story unbearable. just kept getting lost

also the snake scene almost made me vomit, was NOT a fan of that at ALL. felt super unnecessary

I found it really boring, and really didn’t like the main character, I thought she was way too much of a coward to face her problems with her parents head on and instead does stupid things. I hated the way medicine was portrayed, because I think people can have passion for it (and other traditional careers) so the whole passion vs. parents’ expectations trope really bothered me.
finally, I draw the line at animal cruelty and the snakes thing at the club was way too graphic and awful.
