Based on the high reviews, I guess I was expecting something different. It was an interesting tale of suppositions on how Covid began. It has inspired me to do some of my own research.

Lots of details, collects lots of background info on related incidence prior to covid-19 and inconsistencies or suspicious activities on academic papers published on this topic and potential government coverup. However, at the end of the day no conclusion can be drawn from this and it feels like a wild goose chase.

Thoroughly well-researched and written. A proper, well-informed deep dive into the natural origins vs. lab leak theories of Covid-19.
The book sets how exactly how China deceived the world from the very beginning, and continues to obfuscate investigations into where and how the pandemic originated. Even though countless precious samples were already destroyed early on and the WHO has been (and continues to be) complicit in China’s cover-up, there’s still hope that one day we’ll be able to know the whole truth behind SARS-Cov-2.

pretty good companion to david quammen's spillover, which describes how a regular zoonotic outbreak could jump from bat to person to um, every person in the world.
