A great final book for the year. I love the vivid descriptions and dream-like quality of the story.

Very like the film with lots of baseball thrown in.

Easily the most Lindsay book to ever exist and I can't believe I had never heard of it. Magical realism and baseball?! Beautiful poetic language and a family drama?! *grabby hands*

But for real, this book was stunning and I loved spending time with these characters. What a dream.

Charming, delicious, halcyonic. Read this book. Especially if you love baseball, but even if you don’t, read it anyway, because it’s not just about baseball, it’s about so much more.

I had some trouble keeping interested in this one - I think the movie does a good job smoothing out the plot and telling the story.

I haven't seen the movie ("Field of Dreams," of course), but I sort of figured--baseball movie, Iowa, "If you build it, they will come"--would be the climax of the story. Nope! That happened on page 2. I really wasn't prepared for what this was; a story of man who lives just outside Iowa City (and accurately describes Iowa City in the late 1970s) on a farm that he's underwater on, who hears voices that tell him to build a ball field on his farm, and then drives halfway across the country and essentially kidnaps J.D. Salinger. A fantastical story with a lot of heart and also just a ton of baseball.

The movie Field of Dreams was based on this spectacular tale of a man on a journey to find answers about his father through his own family. Even more magical than the movie.
