This book is a comic collection of biographies of 30 women who rocked the world in their own diverse ways. I loved loved loved it. It was such a breezy read but incredibly informative. It was funny, it was emotional and it was awfully inspiring. All these women were just doing the things they loved. Taking it one day at a time and eventually they shook up the world in the ways they could. Penelope captures their stories in a way that is light hearted without being trivial. It's a book I'll always revisit because it is a GORGEOUS book. It is so colourful and so stimulating. It's one of my most prized possessions and definitely one of my best reads of the year

This was such a fun anthology! I've read a lot of collections about stellar women in history, but this was by far one of the best so far. I loved the graphic novel/comic nature of this book. Each woman featured gets several pages devoted to her, and I loved that each had a portrait done as well as two pages at the end of her section that were dedicated to the main topic she is known for. The author creates fun art and pairs it with stories about these miraculous and unique women (including herself!). I loved this and would love to see another edition! I also really enjoyed that this book features different women than most anthologies do. Even though the typical women mentioned are fantastic, there are so many people in the world that have worked hard and achieved something, and this book does a great job highlighting them and giving them a chance in the spotlight. I would recommend this to any feminist out there, middle grade and up.

I. Loved. This. So. Much. This has probably ruined all graphic novels for me since this was my first in the genre and it was so wonderful. I’ll give others a go, but I’m dubious any will capture my heart and mind like this one did. Oh Penelope, you are an inspiration.

ahh, works like this are so IMPORTANT
this collection obviously felt introductory to all these complex women's lives, it is up to the reader to go further with their research... which i did. and with my own little investigation, i found that the author might've embellished some details for the sake of the book, which does makes me wonder about story authenticity in general. this is a common skepticism i personally have with real histories that include imagined dialogues & personality traits — if you don't care about that, then this will be a homerun for you
otherwise, the art style is beautiful and so are women!!!

I loved the diversity in this book. There are women featured from different times, different places, different backgrounds. They have made so many different things of themselves: scientists, inventors, activists, lawyers, warriors, perpetually learning and doing. Fascinating.
