Gorgeous art styles, especially in the breaks between stories, and a great, diverse collection of women.
I was skeptical that it would be a little to rah-rah or whitewashed, but I was happy to be proven wrong!
didn’t know about most of these women so i really loved reading about them.
It is a comic biography of 29 women from around the world who did not let social barriers and family expectations from ruining their dreams and focus of what they wanted to be in life. The author's selection of these women is excellent, with women from 14th-century Africa to 21st-century Afghanistan. Pretty stunning , colorful, with dialogues short yet powerful each of their stories are narrated as comics in less than 6 to 8 pages . There are rappers, volcanologists, actresses, empresses, activists and more. This is a refreshing feminist novel portraying lives of diverse women . This book is for women out there who are daughters , sisters , wives and mothers who did great inspiring things yet went un-noticed because they are women. I will never find a book more perfect than this one to gift my daughter when she grows up.
A 2018 staff favorite recommended by Ann and Sonia. Check our catalog: https://encore.cooklib.org/iii/encore/search/C__Sbrazen%3A%20Rebel%20ladies%20bagieu__Orightresult__U?lang=eng&suite=gold
Basically a graphic catalog of strong women throughout history, with a brief ~6 page biography of each. The one common thread among all of them is that they had to struggle hard to defy expectations to become who they were. Good feminist graphic literature.

This was so, SO good! Bagieu's art style is lively and whimsical, and the stories kept me turning the pages for more. You'll learn about women you've heard of and some you almost certainly haven't, and you'll love each of them! I really hope a sequel to this comes out, I'll be first in line!
