Kundera’s trilogy of Unbearable Lightness of Being, The Book of Laughter and Forgetting, and Immortality are incredible. I’ve loved reading these books over the last year and seeing how they intersect. It’s made me a big fan of Kundera.
Zatím nejvíce experimentální a nejméně existenciální Kunderův román, který jsem četla, a přesto mi četba působila svrchované potěšení, jaké od Kundery očekávám. Více zdánlivě nesouvisejících dějových linek, vypravěč stojící mimo a přesto uvnitř příběhu, nejasná a zamlžená hranice mezi vážností a groteskou, relativizace dosud neotřesitelných jistot - to jsou postupy, kterými si mě Kundera získal.
Niet helemaal waar ik op hoopte. Ik heb “the unbearable lightness of being” van deze schrijver gelezen, en dat boek is één van de beste ooit. Maar deze raakte me minder. Het eerste hoofdstuk sprak me aan, en ik hoopte dat dat door zou gaan, maar deed het niet. Het verhaal vertraagde, met lange filosofische hoofdstukken tussendoor, waardoor mijn interesse snel verdampte.
Ik weet het, Milan Kundera, ik sta waarschijnlijk bij je in het krijt—omdat het vorige boek zo goed was, en misschien ook dit boek, maar niet voor nu. Misschien later, of misschien is een derde reread van jouw vorige. Hoe dan ook, deze gaat de kast in, voor nu.

Je déconseille fortement d'enchaîner la lecture des romans de Kundera: c'est comme vivre 6 autres vies à la fois. Ça me fait vivre, donc ça m'épuise terriblement.

Sú knihy, z ktorých si opisujem zaujímavé myšlienky. A sú knihy, kde si označujem celé strany, lebo je v nich nesmierne múdrosti. Toto je ten prípad. Dámy, páni, takto vyzerá genialita. Každé slovo, každá veta. Klaniam sa.
Il Kundera autore e il Kundera personaggio si fondono, giocano con il lettore. Tutto il libro si potrebbe quasi definire una specie degradata di flusso di coscienza, di cui serba alcune caratteristiche (la discontinuità spazio-temporale in primis) e perdendone altre (ne è la prova il completo distacco dallo stile di Virginia Woolf o di Joyce, specialmente nel soliloquio di Molly).
Lo stesso Kundera agens lo definisce un libro "impossibile da raccontare".
Molto particolare l'ipotesi secondo cui ci sarebbero cenni autobiografici all'interno del racconto (il misterioso amico M di Rubens è visto come una discreta controfigura di Milan stesso), ma senza dubbio ci sono allusioni autocelebrative.
Piacevole da leggere, getta una nuova luce sul modo di vedere ed osservare i dettagli, i gesti, gli oggetti con cui si viene a contatto, le espressioni del viso degli interlocutori. Il libro riflette la realtà che a sua volte si riflette nel libro, in un intreccio impossibile da ridare in maniera coerente.
Unica ombra su un'opera godibile e leggibile è l'incertezza sulla veridicità storica di alcuni eventi narrati (l'incontro Goethe - Napoleone, il rapporto Goethe - Bettina).
E' uno di quei libri che bisognerebbe leggere senza esserne risucchiati: al massimo dovrebbe far rimanere in osservazione.
O meglio, contemplazione.
