5 Stars. So relieved that this book was equally as enjoyable (if not more) than the first 3 by Stieg Larsson.

Meh. I loved the original Millennium trilogy, but this book fell way short of my expectations. The writing style was very different (in a bad way; Lagercrantz is definitely no Stieg Larsson), the characters were weak versions of themselves and the plot was boring.
Lagercrantz tried to do the Larsson thing of running multiple story threads, but he did a lackluster job of developing each thread in a way that was engaging to me, and an even shittier job of tying the stories into one another in a way that gave me that Larsson-esque "BAM!" feeling at the end. The ending was super lame and eye roll-inducing. Not at all characteristic of the Lisbeth and Blomkvist I know and love. I feel like the book was purposely left open for another follow-on, which also contributed to the weak-ass ending.

Not as good as the original series, and picks up at a weird place disregarding how the previous book ended.
Lagercrantz is not quite as edgy as Larsson, but I do like that he made Blomquist not q uite so desirable to any woman who crossed his path. Overall a good story, well told.
This was a fun enough read. Sometimes the story line seemed a bit contrived, but I felt it was fairly true to the characters (though admittedly it has been done time since I read the other books). Not entirely sure what we are going to discuss at book club, but it was an enjoyable book.
