This book featured an excellent mystery AND Peter and Harriet having a conversation about their Feelings, so of course I love this book best of all so far.
How does Sayers keep getting better and better? The banter is brilliant, and for once I did not see the solution to the murder until I was hit over the head with it (mostly. Halfway. Pretty much). I can't wait to buy all these in vintage hardcover editions and read them over and over through the years.
I love Harriet Vane and Lord Peter Wimsey and the writing and the plot and UGH its so good
This is probably my least favorite Sayers mystery so far. There were definitely some good bits, but overall it just seemed too convoluted and contrived to keep my interest.
This wraps up a bit too quickly at the end and there's a part of me that wants to see the interview with the conspirators where the plot is laid out :) Still, light and enjoyable and all the wonderful things that Dorothy Sayers brings to the table. I do so love Miss Vane!

My love for Lord Peter exponentially increases after Harriet arrives on the scene. Here we have Peter and Harriet in that uneasy stage of their relationship when he is still asking her to marry him every other page and she is still refusing just as often. It’s a rather serious book, although there are some very funny bits. Also some great quotes. Having read it before, I did feel a bit impatient with some of their deducting skills. But then I also have inside knowledge (and can’t say anything more because of spoilers). [June 2010]
HAVE HIS CARCASE (8) is the 2nd novel featuring Harriet. She finds a body while on vacation and has to deal with the police, the press, and a hovering Peter Wimsey—who is having trouble himself trying his best to protect her from the worst of the masses' suspicions while also supporting her in solving the case. Has some breathtakingly charged scenes between Harriet & Peter, and also a huge fight that really hashes out why their romance is so fraught and, in the timing of this book, untenable. REC: READ
