It is a truth universally acknowledged that Pride and Prejudice is one the greatest books ever written. So when I discovered that there was a manga version created by Stacy King and illustrated by Po Tse, I immediately ran to get my hands on it. Who would have thought that Pride and Prejudice as a manga would work so well!

Now, after rereading it half a dozen times it is now on the list of my all time favourite books. The illustrations are absolutely stunning. However, if you are looking for a book that is true to the original story, this is not that, the book accentuates the romanticism of Pride and Prejudice, so much so that sometimes you think to yourself was this scene really in the original book, but it still works and honestly I kind of love it even more for it. I may be biased though as anything relating to Pride and Prejudice soon becomes a favourite of mine. (I think I’ve all watched all productions of Pride and Prejudice at least dozens of times).

The story was great, but that was to be expected.

I know I'm too picky about my P&P adaptations, but I don't care. This one has too many little details that are wrong. For one thing, the "baroque" of manga drawing is entirely the wrong style for an Austen adaptation. For another, Elizabeth and Darcy addressing each other by name, no Mr. Or Miss or anything, on their first meeting? Unacceptable!

I absolutely love the illustrations, they are beautiful. Pride & Prejudice is probably the only classic that I can read different versions of and not get tired of the story. Definitely my favourite Manga Classics so far.

I loved everything about this manga. I’m a visual person so I loved being about to see P&P come to life!
