I enjoyed this manga, although you could tell it was written for a younger audience, as the language was simpler and the story was slightly different. I recommend it if you’d like to read Pride and Prejudice but either don’t have much time, or much interest in reading the classic (which is still my favourite book).
Like all Manga/Graphic Novel versions of previously published books, some things are lost. For me, that lessened the stories impact. A few quotes were changed to better fit the abbreviated plot and that left me feeling unfulfilled. The art was gorgeous though, and it's still a good story.
It's just no replacement for the actual novel.

If you are looking for an exact adaptation of the is beloved, then this is not the right book. But don't let that deter you. This is another delightful edition in the Manga Classics series. It might be a tad dramatic but that doesn't stop it from being a great story. The text was appropriate, especially if it's targeting a younger audience. It felt more like teenagers were talking to one another which oddly enough made it more enjoyable . The art was fantastic as usual. I really loved how during the intense and important moments of the story, the weather reflected that such as raining during Darcy's second proposal.
I would say that this adaptation is more of a shoujo manga: the art style is very cutesy, a lot of chibi panels, hearts and flowers in random places, etc. I thought that the art style made it quite fun to read. It's also appropriate for younger readers, if that's a concern for you.
I think the adaptation was quite faithful to the original story. Mrs Bennett was her usual hilariously annoying self, Lizzie over-thought everything, Mr Darcy was brooding... it was fantastic. The characters are so fun to read in the original, and seeing them play it out on the page was a nice experience. Again, if you want to get into classics, but feel intimidated by the original, this would be a good place to start, and get used to the story. That is, if you haven't watched the movie 187 times (like I have..). I have really enjoyed my experiences with UDON's manga classics, and I'm planning to pick up some more in the future.
I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a free and honest review.

4.5 Stars
A fun way to re-experience a classic story.
From what I can recall of the original story, this seemed to hit all of the plot details fairly closely. Dialogue has, of course, been adapted in places to make it discernible to young/modern readers.
I enjoyed the art style immensely. Certain scenes are drawn with a heightened sense of drama or romance, which I thought worked well. The characters were all fair portrayals.
While this may not be quite as valuable as reading the story in the author's original words, it has the advantage of being very quick and very easy. It may there for be a good option for both adult and kid readers trying to experience Austen stories for the first time, or re-experience them in a less taxing format. I'll be trying more of these adaptations in the future.

This book is everything I didn't know I needed in my geeky life. I loved this sweet, silly thing, and I wish these books were around when I was in high school!
The adaptation of the text is solid, but a lot is missing in the details since it would be so long to include it all. Comes with the territory, really. Really lovely condensed version of the story though, and the art makes Mr Darcy much more understandable, to read into what you might not see just from text.

For a pared down version of the original story, for illustrations that give depth to small moments that may be missed in the original, for a quicker read of a classic story
Thoughts:
Another wonderful Manga Classics adaptation! I finished [b:Manga Classics: Macbeth|37691135|Manga Classics Macbeth|Crystal S. Chan|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1518211801l/37691135._SX50_.jpg|60023690] and knew I had to look up some of their other works after seeing how excellent that one was. Since Pride and Prejudice is such a lengthy text, they had to adapt it rather than maintaining the full text as with Shakespeare's. The idea of the story is maintained, and it turns into a quick read of a familiar story, good for if you want the story but also want to give time to other games as well.
The drawback to the condensing of the story are the details that are missing. I'm not the first to note that the banter that's such a feature of Jane Austen's original work are notably absent, to keep the story length manageable. The art brings some of that back, though, so it's really a constant tradeoff.
So: a bit of a different experience of the story, but that's as would be expected. I quite enjoyed the quick read of the adaptation, and the artwork drew details into moments that might otherwise have been missed.

I really enjoyed this manga edition of Pride and Prejudice. It was really fun and such a quick, easy read. Would definitely check out more of the Manga Classics.
*I received a free copy of this from Netgalley which I am very grateful for
I have to admit I am completely biased because I love Pride & Prejudice so much! Seeing the story and all the characters done so beautifully in this manga is just wow. I especially love how beautiful both Jane and Elizabeth looked & how absolutely swoon worthy Mr. Darcy was. The art work is just so beautiful, I can't get over it.
As for the story itself, I'm glad for the changes that Stacy King made because I didn't really want to read a perfect retelling of the story I know so well and love. Though the the entire story fit in one volume, I was glad for the quickness of how everything progressed because I think I would pull my hair out if I had to relive Lydia's antics all over again. I like her the least out of all the sisters. I especially loved the ending! Ah the feels!
This manga rendition of Jane Austen's classic story of Pride & Prejudice brought back all the love I have for the original story, and specifically for the happiness of Lizzie and Mr. Darcy. I think I need to rewatch the movie with Keira Knightly now to complete my day.
