I don’t think I was the target audience for this book, I may be a bit old for it, but it was definitely good for what it was. It was cute and heartwarming, and very easy to read, but I just didn’t love it.

It was ok. Felt too much like Percy Jackson for me to fully enjoy it.

Imaginative story with potential to be really good, but the execution is off. The plot is interesting enough, but there are a lot of problems with the prose, which manages to be at once riddled with cliches and full of examples of an author trying too hard to come up with original metaphors. Scott also doesn't seem to know how to integrate back story with the rest of the plot (or at least, make it so the transition to back story isn't really clunky), and the dialogue is often just not very good. I like it enough to read the next book, so we'll see if there's any improvement.

i had a hard time with this one. parts i felt went by slowly and others it was wham and its done and im completely lost. i kept having to back track. i think this series just isnt for me.

It was okay. I had overly high expectations for this book. It was entertaining and clean, but a little hard to follow. I probably won't be reading this book again any time soon. :/

Taking this one back to the library about 1/4 of the way thru ... just couldn't get into it like I could Harry Potter or The Bartimaeus Trilogy. I think it would be a great read for younger teens, tho.

Aargh. This is one of those series books that is like a soap opera. The story flows from one book into the other. I want my story to have a satisfying conclusion even if there are more books.
