After reading Book 3 in the wayfarer’s series, I was worried it had collapsed after the first two instalments but that was not the case!

I absolutely adore the cosy sci-fi that Becky Chamber’s produces and how it makes me feel.

I loved learning more of Pei from her POV, as well as connecting with so many other wholesome characters. And the growing inter-species friendships had my heart melting.

Definitely a wholesome, warm hug type of book which I will definitely go back to in future (along with books 1 and 2 of wayfarers)

This book was the final novel in the Wayfarers series. The first book ends with our original cast or characters surviving an attack and going forward from there. Each book after picks up after that moment, following a different character/characters from the original book.

The galaxy and the ground within (tgatgw) follows Pei from the first book: captain Ashby's Aeluon lover. Along with her, we follow Roveg, a Quellin sim creator, And Speaker, an Akarak who can speak multiple sapient languages and aids in trade. The three of them stay with Ouloo, a Laru mom and her child, Tupo, in their "space hotel"(?), the Five Hop. Then, everything comes crashing down, literally.

I am so sad I am finished with this series. Each book has filled me with every feeling imaginable. This book brought up themes of colonization, reproductive decisions, traditions and culture, and so much more. I love how Chambers can introduce difficult topics in a way that makes you really see both sides. The connection with the character is so strong. I wish I could meet these characters in real life. Flawed, honest, and real personalities.
