I really enjoyed myself while I read this book. The author's writing is great, the world was interesting, and the characters were all very fun. However, I was under the impression this would be a romance and it is definitely not. I also felt like not much actually happened or happened in an anti-climactic way. I wish the main characters had interacted more and the book should've been longer.

This was not an easy book for me to get into. It took work. But I'm glad I stuck with it, because once I got there the book had me hooked. Just know that you've got to get about halfway through the book before the description of it really starts to fit. That doesn't mean the first half is wasted, but it would have been very helpful for me to know that going in. I got very impatient waiting for that story to start instead of just enjoying slowly getting to know all the characters.

4.5 stars — a charming story with a lot of the spirituality stuff I really enjoy: animals spirits, parallel realities, magic. It’s nice to look at the world through different eyes and imagine possibilities.
