😭😭😭😭😭😭 what an incredible book😭😭😭 I put off reading it for so long because i thought it was a dense sprawling fantasy that was heavily about killing people and vengeance and journeying far and wide, like all the ya fantasy books ive read in the past. But this is so much more (and so different) than that🥹 for one, when reading the reviews and the synopsis i truly thought it was mamoru’s book

and it still is🥹 i just did not expect his side of the story to end so quickly like wtf why did he die my precious son my angel boy the whole time after i kept hope that he would come back from the dead I was in such denial I truly did not expect him to die so i really resonated with misaki and her grief

but since then, I feel that misaki is the true core of the story, so so so loved reading about such a strong female main character who is able to fight adeptly with incredible prowess but at the same time want to and succeed in being an amazing mother and housewife 💗 i love it so much and i love her character growth my favorite main character I’ve read about in a while !! All the side characters were so fun to read about as well, takeru showed amazing growth too, and by the end, he’d become a favorite ! The children were amazing, setsuko was amazing but the only one I didn’t enjoy reading about was robin, felt that that side of the story could’ve been expounded upon more, why would misaki kill so much for robin like kill people ?! And how would she be willing to just leave it all behind ? Someone she would kill for? Idk i wished we learned more about misaki’s past and how she became the way she was but overall, another big fantasy fav !!!! I LOVE fantasy!
