Dead Ahead by Annie Anderson was a thrilling fifth installment in the grave talkers series. Darby's relationships go through quite the wringer. There were lots of twists and turns that I did not see coming. A crazed blood mage, violent werewolves, and a prince of hell? All of that led to a quickly devoured story for me. I did feel like the Essex plot wasn't fully explored, but I'm looking forward to what will happen next.

Another great Darby novel
I almost didn't read this because I knew the next one wasn't going to be out for months, but I can't seem to stop myself from reading this authors books.

This is book five and there is still things Darby doesn’t know about herself. Some shocked the hell out of me and others made perfect sense. There is one soul crushing twist I never saw coming but I hope will be dealt with in the next in the series. Blood, sweat, tears, and were guts abound in this installment. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Omg Bishop, that psychotic lying shit. I didn't expect that.

And it makes me wonder, if the people you love—that you assume love you—actually give a shit that you’re drowning. Because you are. Drowning, I mean. It makes me wonder what you’d be when you find someone who only wants you for you, and not for what you can give them.” - Aemon

That was somewhat unexpected, I can’t put it down. I’m immediately starting the next book.

Kind of sad
Honestly this book was hard. I did not expect that betrayal or con. The deity and demon are absolutely hilarious. Getting rid of one enemy is anticlimactic at best, but Darby is mostly reacting to the crap around her. I hope she comes into her own soon.
