I've been playing caregiver to a family member and graphic novels were a great way to get some reading in for short breaks. This volume introduces Cheryl and Jason Blossom, but mostly Cheryl and she makes a perfect villain. I hope she pops up in future volumes.

Veronica and Cheryl's boarding school antics required Veronica losing some of the growth she sustained in the first two volumes. Archie's inability to function without Veronica is baffling given their short courtship period. Bette is missing in action for the most part. The things that made the first volume so interesting seem to be disappearing. Bringing Cheryl to Riverdale will shake things up nicely, but I hope that the books start to have a stronger emotional center again.

Man, I love Archie. I really really really love Archie.

I didn't like these issues as much as I liked the previous ones, but it was still full of funny moments, exciting stories, and classic Archie drama.

Didn’t enjoy this one quite as much as the previous volumes. Lighthearted take on teenage angst in Riverdale.

Archie counties to reel from Veronica Lodge being sent to Switzerland for boarding school. Jughead and the rest of the gang try to snap him out of it. Meanwhile, Veronica is trying to cope with being sent away and trying to fit in at her new school. It is here we meet Cheryl Blossom. Veronica and Cheryl are quickly on opposing sides and do their best to ruin each other.

Veronica ends up winning the battle, but the war continues. Cheryl moves to Riverdale and sets her sights on destroying all of Veronica’s friends.

Overall, the issues within this collection just didn’t have the same level of appeal as the first 2 volumes. Mark Waid seems to understand the mind of these revised versions of the Archie characters, but not much seemed to happen within the pages of the volume. The art was okay, but still doesn’t measure up to Fiona Staples issues in volume one.

The series continues to be good, but I miss the love triangle element, it honestly feels like Archie will end up with veronica, not because they are better together or for a thematic reason but because she just so happened to be dating Archie at the right time, which feels unsatisfying for a romantic comedy where finding out what "ship" sails are one of the main appeals.

They should also really work on making betty and veronica best friends by now, that's one of the main dynamics of the franchise and it still hasn't been fully established.
