This was absolutely a wild ride and I completely loved it. The plot is super original, the art style is gorgeous, and overall I was just completely hooked. You totally find yourself feeling for the children and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Absolutely fantastic.

The Promised Neverland is one of those series that is beloved by manga/anime enthusiasts, but it doesnโ€™t have the same mainstream success as something like One Piece or My Hero Academia.

However, the story, characters, and setting are all compelling and interesting, and the premise the first volume sets up is interesting and VERY dark. I can definitely see why people get heel-turned during the first volume/episode of this series. Iโ€™ve got the first six volumes, so weโ€™ll see how I feel about this series by the end of the first six.

I picked this up because the art style looked cute. That continued to be the case and I was not disappointed! However, I didn't read what the manga was about (I rarely read what a book is about anymore ๐Ÿ˜…). Turns out, it's part of my two least favorite genres: dystopian and horror! I didn't like it, but I can tell it's an excellent read. I have a friend who was excited to see that I'd picked it up, and I haven't told him I didn't like it yet...

๐Ÿ“š The gist ๐Ÿ“š: Emma and her found family of orphans live at Grace Field House and never want for anything. They love their caretaker, who they call mother, and look forward to the day they're adopted. But something sinister is happening behind the scenes.

๐Ÿ’• For readers looking for ๐Ÿ’•: cute art, horror, survival, stories that are cute on the surface with a hidden dark side.
