I enjoyed this one, and there was definitely a lot of suspense. Literally everyone had a motive. What let it down for me was the murderer and the motive - it just felt a little too u likely. Loved that Agatha threw in a reference to writers not knowing police procedures though. 🙂

Seven places at a table a year ago, but one of them doesn’t get up from the table alive. Cyanide killed Rosemary and it was ruled a suicide, but not everyone is 100% convinced. So her bereft husband, plans an event to supposedly celebrate the younger sister’s birthday, but sets an empty place at the table. Focus then returning to Rosemary. Meanwhile, the other six guests’ stories are revealed and frankly I wasn’t buying it was a suicide either. But I am going to leave it at that. Olen lukenut tämä mukaan lukien nyt viisi Agatha Christietä (mikäli muistan oikein). Kaksi olen lukenut hyvin nuorena ja muistaakseni niistä pidin (muistan myös ratkaisut edelleen!), kolme viimeisen vuoden sisällä ja niistä kolmesta pidin kaikista eniten tästä.
On hauskaa, että olen lukenut Christietä aina vähän sattumalta. Yhden hänen kirjoistaan sain teininä lahjaksi, yhden taisin lukea mummin kirjahyllystä (tai jonkun muun?) ja nyt nämä kolme viimeisen vuoden aikana lukemaani ovat löytyneet omasta hyllystä, jonne ne ovat kulkeutuneet eri kautta. Yksi löytyi kirjojen kierrätyshyllystä, yksi oli laina kumppanin perheen kotoa ja yksi ostettiin kirpparilta halvalla (ja se oli aivan hirveän huono!).
Christie kyllä toimii, jos kaipaa kevyttä ja helppoa, mutta toisaalta paikoin vanhentunut kieli, rasismi ja naisviha tekevät lukemisesta myös raskaan kokemuksen. Tulen varmaan lukemaan jatkossakin Christietä, mutta ehkä jatkossakin vähän sattumankauppana, eli tuskinpa näitä alan varailemaan kirjastosta. Kirpparilta saatan ostaa. Katsotaan!
