Beautiful book about the importance of old and new friends, a sort of Calvin and Hobbes, but just the sweet moments without all the mischief (by which I guess I mean a boy is friends with a tiger and it otherwise bears no resemblance to Calvin and Hobbes at all). But I loved the fantastical notion of a mer-boy having a tiger for a best friend (with no explanation necessary as to why there's a tiger under the sea or why he can live there), and the whimsical illustrations of ocean life were beautiful.

This book is about an ocean-dwelling tiger and his best friend, a shy merboy. I am SO HERE for anything that tells boys they can be merboys if they want to!!

This is beautiful -- imagery, kindness, and imagination. Excellent quiet book for shy peoples, and a gorgeous undersea adventure. Reminds me of Calvin and Hobbes.
