This book focused a lot on Alina and Nikolai building up defenses against the Darkling. I think I almost liked it more that the first book. It ended on such a Cliffhanger though ;^;. 
Sometimes this book is a bit week from a storytelling perspective, but the characters definitely make up for it!!! Alina, David, Genya, Nikolai, Tolya, Tamar, Zoya - literal PERFECTION!!!!

Alina has visions of the Darkling throughout the book in which he sexually harasses her by kissing her without her consent or manipulating her into kissing him by pretending to be someone else that she desires. You find out later in the book that they were not strictly visions and that it, in a sense, was truly him harassing her. At the end of some copies of the book there is an additional chapter about Genya which contains mentions of rape
