I liked the premise for this one -- it felt like a dwarf coming-of-age story that I hadn't read before -- but the book itself was disappointing. The lead characters all felt like stereotypes -- there's the angry one, the shy one, the one being judged by the color of her skin, the rebel ... and none of them ever develop beyond those stereotypes. By the end I was mostly reading around them (and being grateful that this was only a novella)
