This book was ok for me. Growing up watching MRN and being an educator of littles and a passion for social emotional learning I really wanted to LOVE this book. It had some interesting facts but most of it bored me. I felt it had almost too much information, the writing is beyond detailed and often went off on very long side tangents about people in Roger’s life. I listened to the audiobook and felt as though the narrator was perfect for this book. I only got 70% through before my checkout expired, I won’t be checking out again to finish. This one just wasn’t for me.
Everyone knows the Mister Rogers was a good person. But like he was a REALLY good person.
It's boring and I felt like the author was writing a long essay to prove something about his work rather than tell Rogers story.
This book was a good biography on the man we welcomed into our homes as "Mr. Rogers."
Heartwarming biography of an excellent man. Empathy will forever be the most important trait a human can have, and Mr Rogers was full of that.
For the most part I really enjoyed this audiobook. I think if you ever grew up watching Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood or just want to learn more about an American icon then this is a fantastic book pick up.
Fred Rogers was a one of a kind human being, and I'm sure he would mention that we all are. This comprehensive account of his life documents his time as a young boy growing up in Pennsylvania all the way to his momentous adult life as an educator to children all over the US. I really enjoyed getting to see inside some of the moments that built Fred Rogers' character and how he became the caring man that he was. His take on religion, self, and how to treat others was a wonderful outlook on life and something I think everyone can learn from.
Just hearing the music for Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood at the beginning and end of this audiobook put a huge smile on my face and took me back to sitting in front of the TV with my legs crossed and watching this childhood friend don his iconic sweater to sit and talk with kids across America.
This was definitely a book I'd recommend and one that I thoroughly enjoyed.

The writing is repetitive in places, but I still enjoyed this biography of Mr. Rogers. I grew up with his show and was always drawn to his kind and gentle demeanor. I never knew that he was such a talented composer or that he wrote all of the music on the show. As I listened the the audiobook (read by LeVar Burton), I took a walk down memory lane and revisited friends from my much younger days. No one who knows me in real life will be surprised that I teared up several times along the way.
A beautiful tribute to a person who continues to have a profound impact on the way we think about life long after he has passed. He had an incredible way of reducing life to its simplest elements. To slow things down to “Fred time” and to put children’s experiences first in everything he did. The immediate desire to sharing his words about “looking for the helpers” every time a tragedy occurs shows how lasting a footprint he has made on us as a society even beyond the spans of our childhoods. He was a national treasure.
