I love finding gems in authors from BookBub advertising discounts and free ebooks! Anni Taylor definitely found a new fan over here

Squid Game. In Greece.

Rounded up from 3.5

Overall I liked it, it kept my attention. I think the ending felt a bit rushed in some ways. The characters just happened to have night vision goggles, etc. But there was an unexpected twist that doesn’t happen often. I know many books claim to have a twist but in general I saw it coming. I didnt with this one.

I look forward to other books by this author

(2.5 ⭐️’s bumped to 3) Interesting set up with a couple of unexpected twists involving psychopaths (their label, not mine). Evie, a mother of two young daughters, has a gambling addiction. She’s offered an opportunity to enter a rehab facility on a Greek Island (of course…a cornfield in Idaho might be too far fetched) where she will participate in six challenges. If she completes the challenges, all of her debts will be paid and she’ll receive an additional $60k. Although the challenges Evie participates in have little to do with traditional rehab recovery, Evie completes each challenge…getting her closer to a new life.

The last third of the book I really enjoyed. But the first 2/3 had pretty ridiculous logic and jumping to conclusions, was predictable and had near zero character development/character imagery.
Very similar to Squid Games but not nearly as dark and f’d up.
challenging dark emotional mysterious tense medium-paced

The Six was everything I look for in this kind of book. I raced through the story needing to know the answers without ever being able to guess what was next. Everything I read from Anni Taylor leaves me waiting for her next book.

A slow burn, but when it cranks up, it really cranks up

DNF at 42% - this is way too slow. I don't even really care what happens.

It’s so bad. No idea why people rated highly.

It’s so boring and slow, makes little sense. I listened on audible and couldn’t wait for it to be over, which is incredibly rare for me. Normally I’m sad the audio versions go so quickly. This was truly awful and I’m so glad I didn’t spend money on it. I almost never give 1 or 2 star reviews so trust me when I say don’t waste your time.
