Once again never know how to rate poetry, but I saved multiple poems from this collection which is always a sign that it hit and was moving. The wood cutting artwork is also really cool and the skill it takes is incredibly impressive!

I carve my stories in wood. My ancestors sailed in wood. They will carry me out in wood.

Omar Musa has developed something really special with this collection. Sharing not only poetry, Killernova, includes wood prints that Musa has created, connections to culture that are detailed in the beginning of the book. Each print is detailed and poetic as well, sharing quips, lines or sometimes horrors faced such as racism and isolation.

Focusing on heritage and environmental and racist destruction as a result of capitalism and colonialism, this collection has some incredibly gripping poems. Musa has a voice that is loud and demands to be heard. You can feel his spoken-word strengths pouring through the pages.

Wereleopard
Ghost Forest

I Am A Homeland
