Every human being in the UK, and possibly non-human entities, should read this book.

Truly incredible. The style of writing is in diary entries and is therefore easy to dip on and out of. Covers some really heavy topics but with lots of light humour thrown in for balance.

This collection of diary entries exposes the emotional and traumatic side of becoming a doctor. It’s content has massive societal importance and is a book I think every adult should read. It’s quite scary when you realise that doctors are humans too who make mistakes and, as someone who spends time in and out of hospital, I found this a difficult truth at times!

It’s filled with hilarious, shocking and somewhat controversial events along with many heartbreaking stories that will stay with you. This is a book that actually brought me to tears! In the beginning, I felt woozy reading about the accidents and the gory details but I’m so glad that I powered through to get to the brilliant parts. But still, some of Adam’s stories had me questioning, “Who are these people that stuff objects up themselves or rub Chinese herbs into their vaginas??!?!” Painfully funny and a glaring example of why NHS staff should be paid more and respected more!
