okay excuse my french but what the fuck? why did nobody tell me that this was really good? like i genuinely loved this, and the next book comes out in october?

anyway y'all, if you like demons/witches/magic/new adult read this!

spoilers ahead ☞

wrath is. perfect? no. but almost. he's not my favorite love interest to ever be written but there's something about the way that he deals with emilia that is so *chef's kiss*. i'm definitely frustrated with the way that this ended bc,,, where the fuck is their story going in the next book? like for all we know wrath is done w her? why couldn't she summon him? idk. the drift is the only reason i'm not giving this a 5/5.

vittoria--i'm sorry that you were killed off for the plot line and stamped as stupid because you were really putting in work for your oblivious sister. i kinda wish antonio wasn't the murderer because somehow it's so obvious but also not obvious,,, i feel like kerri maniscalco could've come up with a plot a little more intricate,,, but this leads me to my next point.

WHY WASN'T THIS LONGER? the author could've easily made this 500-600 and i think it would've really improved world building, hammered out how the magic works/how witches learn spells, AND given more background on our demon princes. like, excuse me and i'm sorry that i have to say this, but i need to know more about all of the demon princes. not just wrath. i want lust to be a frenemy to emilia so badly, then her/wrath/lust can fuck up greed and envy. also where is gluttony and sloth??? we also know nothing about pride??? and why is pride called the true "devil" like the king of hell?

i'm hoping that the rest of my questions will be answered in the next book, (very likely), but i need the next book to be longer and like a tiny bit spicier. i think that this one was a good lead up with a nice slow burn, but wrath needs to bring that passion back sooner rather than later or i'm gonna snooze in the beginning of the next book!!!

very much excited for wrath and emilia to get into the shits and fuck up hell.

IF SHE MARRIES PRIDE AND NOT WRATH I WILL DECLARE WAR ON THEM ALL.

Thats all I have to say…

I love a murder mystery, with a mix of witchy vengeance. It was a good time. Emilia and Wrath are a hot mess, but the banter was fun.
Although I may have wanted to throw a brick at Emilia from time to time, I didnt find her annoying. She just made decisions to keep moving and figuring things out as she goes.
I can't wait for her to figure out her next move.
I will definitely be continuing the series.

The tension is palpable

I expected a lot more and it just kinda fell flat. I think it was the lack of thorough world-building and real connections between characters, but I did enjoy the premise and the murder mystery aspect. I will continue reading the series bc they’re easy to get through. Hoping the second is better!

Love murder mystery with magic and demons aspect! Iol but wish beginning wasnt to repetitive and also more growth between FMC and MMC.
