I bought this book on a whim from a charity and what a gem it has been!
The setting of the book juxtaposes an idyllic Sicilian coastal setting against dark, mysterious and supernatural themes - absolutely perfect for my first holiday read.
The book is well written and flows easily from one chapter to the next. The pacing is consistent and the chapters are short and snappy making them easy to devour. I also really liked the little memos at the start of each chapter. They were relevant to each chapter and gave helpful background information.
I was invested in the characters very early on and really found myself rooting for the FMC. I loved how the FMC evolved throughout the story. There was a good balance between character and plot development.
I’m very much looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book!

Yaaas, another re read! I decided to reread these while I wait my turn for Throne of the Fallen
Okay, i will begin by saying this was a HUGE surprise. I read all the stalking jack the ripper books so i thought to myself “i’m completely familiar with kerri’s writing”. I was wrong! Blissfully wrong! Kerri reinvented herself in this book and for the best! The writing, while still in the same essence, was incredible and different and everything i love in fantasy.
Now, talking about the plot and the book himself, i was completely sold in the first chapter, it was amazing. Not many books can do this to me, but this was one of them. Emilia stole my heart, i saw so much of me in her that i almost cried. She is so strong and determined and she does everything for the ones she loves, and she’s totally amazing.
Wrath was a big surprise. I kind of have a thing for villains and morally gray characters but i definitely didn’t expect to love him this much (the ending? broke my heart btw) and want to see more about him and his world. He didn’t need to stole my heart like other demons and princes of hell need, i gave mine to him!
And finally, the world building. Kerri, what was that? It was perfect! I loved this book with my whole heart and i can’t wait to read the next one! thank you kerri❤️

I’m so tired of descriptions of food. And Emilia. I get that it’s YA and teenagers make dumb decisions but I just can’t take it anymore. I don’t have enough of a connection with any of the characters to care what happens in the second half.
