This book was so good from start to finish. I was worried since I read the other two standalone books first that it might ruin this series for me but it just ended up feeling like I was reading a prequel. Can't wait for the next book to come in..I'm excited to see how the whole story plays out!

Was in a dry spell and this did not help, I was so bored
I really wanted to like this, mostly because I came across some awesome fan art that persuaded me to read this. But wow the FMC annoyed the hell out of me. She was possibly the most unprepared person ever who did nothing to help herself. It seemed like she charged into every situation without bothering to pick up anything that could help before hand, taking absolutely nothing with her and not having any kind of plan at any point. She also seemed to know absolutely nothing despite having grown up in an extremely knowledgeable family that taught her all about magic and the demon realm since she was little. It was incredibly frustrating!
This was also very much a murder mystery with the barest hint of hatemance more than any kind of romance book.
But it is always interesting to read about Italian witchcraft and mostly I thought it was represented quite well from what I know of it, although perhaps a little new age-y.
I probably won't bother with the other books in the series.

chaotic plotlines that I could only follow bc I recognized the tropes being used (Antonio being bad, her recognizing the fennel on the stall, wrath "" moving her in "") but still am hooked and will continue to read!
It took me a bit of time to get into it but once the plot picked up it was good - It kept you guessing throughout the book, gave me detective vibes because she was basically trying to catch a serial killer. I enjoyed it, the identity of the killer surprised me and the book finished on a bit of a cliff hanger so I want to read the next one now.
