Started 3x and just couldn’t get into it

4.5-5

Goddamn, this woman excels at writing flirty banter and creating sexual tension! I loved the SJTR series so when I saw she had something new I was nervous because I have impossibly high expectations. However, Kerri delivered a solid 4 star novel. I certainly will be grabbing Kingdom of the Cursed in October. I enjoyed the magic, romance, characters, and of course the witty banter. It is reminiscent of Cressworth but also very different, she’s not just copy and pasting their relationship in anyway. Emilia and Wrath have their own story, which is just what I wanted. The removal of a star is for feeling rushed in the last 3-5 chapters. I know I’m supposed to have SOME questions and missing pieces of information to keep me coming back, but I have MANY questions. I don’t see her circling back to a lot of them in the 2nd book. I can’t count them as official plot holes yet but, I suspect some will be.

The book started off play I was intrigued.
The murder of her sister was definitely a good way to grab my attention early on on the book
In the middle of the book it got a bit repetitive for me, but towards the end the oase picked up again and I loved it. I definitely want to read the next book in the series
