Beautiful study of character. A bit too long. What a tragic ending!

LOVED! can’t wait to read more of edith!

Me costó trabajo el principio, no se si por la época pero creo que el papel de "victima de la vida" me molesta y mucho, sin embargo los factores de su alrededor hacen que la protagonista sea coherente y realista con lo que hace y termina sucediendo.

Just not quite in the mood for it tbh

Oh, do I love this book. It has one of the most beautiful similes I have ever read, and I think of it often:

"...a smile that was like sunrise on a sea strewn with wreckage."

Just gorgeous and brilliant and perfect.

This book broke my little college freshman heart. I just buy Edith Wharton books whenever I see them, now.

sooooooo depressing - and fascinating. a great - but long - read.

I have a love/hate relationship with this book as its anti-heroine somehow resembles me.
