This is the first paranormal women's fiction book I've read by a Black author with a Black protagonist. It's just a novella, and it was over too soon. Immediately want to read the follow up.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!!! Gwen was a 40 something year old curvy tattoo artist and has a badass energy. Gwen knew about her having magic and the curse that she had that was from a vampire.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED RUTHIE AS THE NARRATOR!! She did amazing!!!

OMG! Where to begin?!
A Black FMC ✅
FMC over 30 ✅
FMC who isn't super skinny but loves her body anyway ✅
Narrator who understands all the idiosyncrasies the character needed ✅
Hoodoo Heaven is an absolutely AMAZING book. As a Black woman in my 30's, it spoke to me in ways I didn't expect. If I had simply read the book I may have liked it..But listening to it?! Ruthie gives you an EXPERIENCE! The way she fully embodied the main character Gwen is truly a work of art. I simply would not have enjoyed this unforgettable story as much without such an amazing narrator. I cannot wait for her to narrate the future books!! Also I absolutely need books 2-10 NOW

This was such a fun read! our fmc had me cracking up by page 3. Gwen is a 40 something year old curvy black tattoo artist who oozes badass energy. I loved that this wasn't your typical "witchy" read where the fmc didn't know magic existed and inherited a house and whole mess of magic to go along with it.

Gwen knows about magic and that her time is coming to an end due to a curse that she is determined to outrun. throw in some vampires and a sexy mysterious man who comes to her aide at just the right time and an ending that has you questioning what the heck just happened had me running to amazon to grab the next installment.
