2.5 rounded down out of sheer disappointment.

Loved the Wildwood trilogy. Got super excited when I heard they had finally written another one. Pre-ordered it months in advance. Began reading it on release day. Quickly went down hill. "Plot" consisted mostly of bizarro slang and random narrator interjections with little character development. I guess the most accurate reflection of my feelings on this is the fact that even though I purchased it on release day...I will be returning it because I know I'll never read it again. Nor would I loan it to anyone else. Not sure who the target audience is. Certainly not middle grade. What a bummer

Took me a while to get into this but once I did I ended up loving it so much.
A solid 4 star book!

I LOVED this book!

Colin Meloy does not disappoint and I can only imagine what kind of lovely illustrations are inside the physical book. I will definitely have to pick up a hard copy, but I highly recommend listening to the audio!

Whimsical jaunt of 1960s Marseilles; full of capers and a quirky set of lively characters. Very fun read and wonderful illustrations. Thanks for the ARC, Goodreads and Harper Collins!

This was really cute and fun! I will add this to my list of middle grade novels that i recommend to kiddos.

I am now afraid of both pickpockets and being betrayed by a bunch of twelve year olds.

I loved this book, from the language of the Whiz to the story of the 'con.'

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!! yes i do believe that it is written in a very challenging tone for a child but that's ok because I'm not a child and I read the book and I loved it. It's got a very sophisticated feel to it and all the little details added so much to the story. I learned a lot about robbery! At times, some of the anecdotes were ramblely but I confidently skip over that kind of stuff and the actual juice of the book is so perfect. The story is amazingly crafted, the plot keeps you engaged, and the characters are so well developed they feel real and I love them so much. Highly recommend!!!! Not to mention the beautiful illustrations!!! I am a sucker for art in books so like this is def one of my favorite books ever. I have reread it 3 times. Love.
